Viking Buckle Set with Wolf Head
-
Description
This is a special type of viking buckle set from the island of Gotland, which was producing some magnificent metalwork in the Viking Age. Many of these buckles and strap ends have been found, produced by various craftsmen. I have emphasized the strong curves on my model. The wolf head on the buckle is matched by the wolf head on the strap end, which bites a serpent-like beast. The strap end is split to take a leather strap, to be fixed with a single rivet.
If you want your buckle set put on a belt, see the Viking belt offer at the start of this Belt Fittings section.
The buckle will take a strap 16 – 19mm wide, tapering to 12mm for the strap end. Strap end length 50mm (2 inches)
Weight of Sterling Silver Set 26g (Weight may vary from piece to piece)

JJaapGot this one from Alban over 20 years ago. One time I lost the strap end because my goat nibbled it of. Alban replaced it. Still going strong. Love it.
Thanks Jaap!
