Viking Dragon Brooch in Jelling Style

This is a special example of a Jelling style viking dragon brooch from the heart of the former Viking world.

The Vikings were intrepid traders whose ships voyaged to all points of the compass. One of the major towns at the heart of this trading network was the Danish town of Hedeby (also called Haithabu).

Haithabu is famous for excavations and its Viking museum. I have been lucky enough to exhibit my „modern“ viking jewellery in this impressive museum, and whilst I was there I noticed a beautiful example of a Viking dragon brooch in Jelling style sitting in the display case next to me. This is my copy of that special find. (I have also made it as a pendant – see the pendants section).
